Description
Colleozio is Leonardo Bussoletti’s tribute to one of Umbria’s most iconic white grape varieties. This wine is born from an extraordinary selection that blends the powerful structure of Grechetto di Todi (G5 clone) with the vibrant freshness of Grechetto di Orvieto (G109 clone). Its name evokes the beauty of the vineyard in San Gemini, specifically in Colle Ozio, where the vines thrive at 290 meters above sea level on clay-limestone soils that impart a unique minerality and backbone to the wine.
With vines aged between 10 and 15 years and deliberately low yields—just 600 to 800 grams of grapes per vine—the focus is entirely on maximum concentration and aromatic richness. Every cluster is strictly hand-harvested in small crates to preserve its perfect integrity.
The winemaking process is a celebration of patience and respect for the raw material: fermentation is spontaneous and lasts approximately 30 days. To keep the varietal purity, freshness, and vibrant sapidity intact, Colleozio ages for 6 months in stainless steel on its fine lees. Its journey concludes with a further 3 to 5 months of refinement in the bottle within the estate’s cellars before release.
The result is a white wine of great character—tense, enveloping, and profound. A limited production ranging from 10,000 to 13,000 bottles per year, designed for those who wish to discover the most authentic soul of artisanal Grechetto.
