Description
Brecciaro is the hallmark of Leonardo Bussoletti’s dynamic winemaking, a wine that owes its bold and mineral character to the very soils that nurture it. Its name pays tribute to the “breccia” (rock fragments) of the former quarry in Narni, where the vines root into the stone, combined with the strength of the clay-limestone soils of Colle Ozio in San Gemini.
This marriage of two distinct terroirs, situated between 190 and 290 meters above sea level, creates a 100% Ciliegiolo of rare precision. With a controlled yield of just 600-800 grams per vine, every cluster is hand-harvested to ensure uncompromising quality.
The winemaking follows a philosophy of pure respect: spontaneous fermentation and a masterful aging process that plays on balance. 70% of the wine matures in stainless steel to preserve the crisp freshness of the fruit, while the remaining 30% rests in large French oak barrels to add structure and elegance. After further refinement in the bottle, Brecciaro reveals itself as an authentic, vibrant, and deep red, produced in a carefully curated run of 12,000 to 15,000 bottles.
