Description
Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Il Castellare represents the ultimate expression of the Sangiovese Grosso grape on the south-eastern slopes of Montalcino. The production follows a rigorous protocol aimed at preserving the integrity of the fruit and the distinctiveness of the local Mediterranean microclimate, which is characterized by excellent natural ventilation.
The winemaking process features temperature-controlled fermentation at 26°C, with skin maceration lasting 10-12 days. The wine’s complex architecture is defined by an extensive 24-month aging period, during which the Brunello matures in a skillful blend of 10hl French oak casks, barriques, and tonneaux. This wood aging, followed by a minimum of 4 months of refinement in the bottle, bestows the wine with its renowned structure and longevity.
This label achieved international acclaim by reaching 11th place in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 (2009). This milestone certifies Poggio Il Castellare’s Brunello as one of the most appreciated and sought-after wines by collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.
