Description
The austerity of a vineyard considered among the Top of the appellation. It originates from an exceptional vineyard of about 2 hectares at an altitude of 300 meters in the Municipality of Castiglione Falletto facing south/west on soils rich in iron and with plants over 50 years old. The name “Henry VI” was coined at the beginning of 1970 by Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo to commemorate the birth of his sixth son (1959) named Enrico and at the same time the purchase of this fine Barolo vineyard in 1965: the right opportunity to celebrate two important events with a single tribute. Since then, Barolo Enrico VI has been the only expression of Barolo from a different territory and far from the rest of the vineyards located at the Annunziata di La Morra. A microclimate that tends to be cooler, less ventilated on a more evolved and compact clayey soil: the result is a “male” Barolo with a strong personality, robustness, earthiness and menthol notes in evidence. On the palate it shows more breadth and volume but at the same time soft and sweet tannins, although in abundance.
