Description
Montefalco Rosso Riserva DOC, this red wine from the territory proposed here by Cantina Fratelli Pardi comes from a blend of three grape varieties: 70% Sangiovese, the undisputed prince of central Italy, 20% Sagrantino, which is the most representative grape variety of Umbria, and 10% Montepulciano grapes. It’s hard to imagine a more representative cut of tradition than this. The harvest, strictly manual, begins in mid-September, and then lasts until the beginning of October. Once in the cellar, the grapes are sent to a period of maceration on the skins lasting about 10 days, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. At the end of the transformation, the wine is then passed into 26-hectoliter barrels, in French and Slovenian oak. This phase takes about 18 months, followed by at least another 9 months in steel. Only then is the wine ready to be bottled. Ruby red, the nose offers a beautiful expressive originality. Decidedly Mediterranean character, with notes of flowers and red fruits. In the mouth, on the other hand, it has a welcoming impact and an important but refined tannic texture. The finish is also long and pleasant, rich in mineral nuances.
